Public policy analysis

Over the past 30 years or so, considerable theoretical and empirical knowledge has been developed in the field of public policy analysis that has helped to better understand the action or inaction of political authorities. Why do — or don’t — the authorities address such or such a problem? Who participates in decision making and action? How are decisions implemented? Why are public policies often sub-optimal? Thus, public policy analysis has become an essential component of political science and has become part of the training and daily work of a growing number of public and private actors.
