Microeconomics

Presentation

This course aims to present the basic concepts and rationales of economic analysis. While referring to the most recent developments in theory, the course will use many detailed examples illustrating economic reality and will highlight economic policy issues. The first chapters approach economic analysis in terms of "supply and demand" and gradually shift to consumer and business behaviours. The following chapters will examine the functioning of perfectly and imperfectly competitive markets. Finally, problems related to market failures and state intervention are analysed in the final chapters.
