Elements of scientific ecology

Presentation

This class aims to examine current environmental changes from an ecological perspective: causes and impacts of those changes on the functioning of ecosystems. The topics covered will include biodiversity erosion; destruction/fragmentation of natural habitats; climate change and its consequences on the environment; change in the water cycle; overexploitation of living resources; current changes in the functioning of ecosystems and ecosystem services.

There are no particular prerequisites for this class.

Educational formula

The class will alternate between discussions / debates around specific questions related to the themes addressed, short phases of exchanges in groups of two or three, and phases of synthesis.
