■ Objectifs

Objectifs en recherche

Dans une perspective interdisciplinaire et de comparaison internationale, le titulaire de la Chaire est associé à l'élaboration et à la mise en œuvre de projets de recherche émanant des unités de recherche de Sciences Po Bordeaux, notamment dans le domaines de la science politique et de l'histoire politique contemporaine.

Objectifs en formation

Le bénéficiaire de la Chaire s'engage :

• à conduire un enseignement de 12 heures pendant une durée d'un mois ;

• à donner au moins deux conférences à Sciences Po Bordeaux à destination des chercheurs et doctorants ;

• à contribuer au suivi des étudiants de l'établissement où il se trouve ;

• à évaluer le travail des étudiants qui assisteront à son cours.

■ Financement & sélection des candidats

• La Chaire est financée par la Fondation Michel Vaisan sous l'égide de la Fondation du Judaïsme Français.

• Sélection organisée conjointement par Sciences Po Bordeaux et l'Université Ben Gourion du Néguev, en fonction de critères d'excellence pédagogique et scientifique, de coopération avec la recherche bordelaise en sciences humaines et sociales, et de capacité à enseigner en anglais ou en français.

Premier ou second semestre 2009-2010

• Fred Lazin, professeur de science politique à l’Université Ben Gourion du Néguev.

At the University of Massachusetts in Amherst Fred Lazin was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Cum Laude in Government and History. He also served as president of Hillel. He received his MA and Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago. He joined the faculty at Ben Gurion University in Israel in 1975. He helped to establish an Interdisciplinary Program in Urban Studies and the Department of General Studies. He chaired the Department of Behavioral Science and served as the Director of the Hubert H. Humphrey Center of Social Ecology and the Overseas Student Program (OSP). In his tenure at OSP, the student body increased five fold. At present Fred is the Lynn and Lloyd Hurst Family Professor of Local Government and Chair of the Department of Politics and Government at Ben Gurion University.

He has also taught at the Hebrew University, UCLA, GWU, Cornell, Tufts and CUNY. Fred has served as a Visiting Scholar at universities in Sweden, France, China, Czech Republic, Canada and the United States.

Professor Lazin has authored over sixty scholarly articles and chapters in books. He is the author of eight books dealing with public policy in the United States, Israel and developing countries, Israeli politics and society and Jews in American politics. Lexington Books published his latest book The Struggle for Soviet Jewry in American Politics; Israel versus the American Jewish Establishment. His pioneering research on the response of American Jewish organizations to German Jewish refugees in the 1930s opened a new field in Holocaust Studies.
